Moona Restaurant May Be Opening in Former Playska Space in Cambridge's Inman Square

A new restaurant may be taking over the Cambridge space where a short-lived sandwich shop had been, and it looks like the person behind it comes from a now-closed suburban spot that was affiliated with a popular restaurant in Boston's South End.

According to a license commission general hearing page within the city's website, Moona Restaurant is planning to open in Inman Square, with the address indicating that it would be moving into the former Playska space. (Playska, which was owned by the people behind Bronwyn in Somerville and T.W. Food in Cambridge, closed in April.) The manager listed for Moona is Mohamad El Zein, who was involved with Masa Taqueria and Tequila Bar, a Woburn restaurant that shut down last month. (Masa in the South End remains open.)

Based on the proposed hours given, it looks like Moona will be open only for dinner--at least at the start--and that it is looking to acquire a beer and wine license. No specific information on its menu or concept has been given as of yet, so keep checking back for updates.

The address for this proposed dining spot in Inman Square is: Moona Restaurant, 243 Hampshire Street, Cambridge, MA, 02139.
